Got these just in time for end-of-season yard work. Cleared out dead lilac suckers and thick woody stems around the fence line. The cut is clean and doesn’t twist in your hand when applying pressure. You can feel the cutting leverage doing the heavy lifting.

I’ve been tailoring for over 30 years and have always sworn by heavy traditional forged shears. Decided to give these TONMA shears a try after hearing about micro-carbide steel edge retention. I’m completely sold. They offer the exact same clean, stable leverage of old-school heavy shears, but with much smoother pivot action and without the constant worry of rust spots from sweaty hands. The edge holds up beautifully even after weeks of continuous suit wool cutting.

They have a solid, professional heft to them, but the action is so smooth that my hand doesn’t ache even after a full afternoon of cutting. Absolutely worth the investment.

My hands aren’t as strong as they used to be, and squeezing dull scissors was giving me bad wrist aches. Yes, these shears have some substantial weight to them, but that heft is actually what makes them so easy on the joints. You just guide them along the cutting line and the weight carries the cut right through. Cuts like a hot knife through butter.

Didn’t realise how bad my old sheers were until I got these. Seriously just buy these. Are you looking for hardy well made Japanese craftsmenship in the kitchen? Why would you reach for those old plastic-handled dull sheers instead of these? Ergonomic, sharpenable, quality accessible sheers. I might just buy more to hand out to friends.
