I’ve been tailoring for over 30 years and have always sworn by heavy traditional forged shears. Decided to give these TONMA shears a try after hearing about micro-carbide steel edge retention. I’m completely sold. They offer the exact same clean, stable leverage of old-school heavy shears, but with much smoother pivot action and without the constant worry of rust spots from sweaty hands. The edge holds up beautifully even after weeks of continuous suit wool cutting.

I hesitated for two weeks because of the price, but as soon as I made the first cut through four layers of fleece, I realized I’d been torturing myself for years with cheap department-store scissors. Razor sharp out of the box, incredibly smooth glide, and zero hand fatigue. Five stars all day long.

If you’ve ever had a pair of high-carbon shears leave a faint rust or oil smudge on white bridal satin, you know that sheer panic. The titanium coating on these is a game changer. Straight out of the box, they were spotless and cut cleanly through slippery organza and silk chiffon without snagging or pulling threads. The cut is crisp all the way to the very tip. Definitely keeping these locked in my sewing room so my family doesn’t use them for cardboard.
