Forged from premium Japanese SK5 high-carbon steel, the hardened blade delivers exceptional edge retention and strength. Coated with advanced nano-spray rust protection, it resists sap and corrosion, slicing through dense, woody branches without dulling or chipping.
Featherlight 8.7 oz with Ergonomic Comfort Grip
Prune longer without hand pain. Weighing just 8.7 oz (247g), this lightweight pruner features an ergonomic, non-slip handle that cushions your grip and reduces wrist fatigue. Perfect for seniors, women, and anyone tackling extended yard work with effortless control.
The Anvil Advantage: Maximum Leverage, Zero Jamming
Bypass pruners easily bend, jam, or twist on hard, dead wood. The TONMA anvil design presses straight down onto a flat metal base like a knife on a cutting board, generating superior cutting leverage for smooth, jam-free cuts on tough, dried stems every time.
All-in-One Yard Care Backed by Lifetime Service
From fruit tree pruning and thorny rose canes to thick shrubs and bonsai, this heavy-duty pruner handles all your tough yard cleanup. Built for dependable daily performance and backed by our Lifetime Service, it is the last anvil pruner you’ll ever need to buy.
- Q:What is this anvil pruner best for, and can it cut 1-inch branches?
- A:Yes! It easily powers through dry, dead, or woody branches up to 1″. While bypass shears suit fresh green stems, this anvil design maximizes cutting leverage to slice dense wood with minimal effort.
- Q:Will the blade stay sharp, and how does it prevent rust?
- A:Crafted from hardened Japanese SK5 steel with dual nano-spray coating, the blade retains extreme edge sharpness across thousands of cuts while resisting sap buildup, moisture, and rust.
- Q:Is it comfortable for seniors, weak hands, or arthritis?
- A:Yes. Engineered with ergonomic, cushioned non-slip grips and a high-leverage mechanism, it multiplies your hand strength to reduce fatigue, wrist strain, and pain during prolonged trimming.
- Q:Is the safety lock secure, and what if a part breaks or wears out?
- A:The tight-clip precision lock stays securely engaged and won’t accidentally slide open in your pocket or holster. Plus, every pruner includes TONMA’s lifetime service—if you ever run into any issue, we’ll make it right.

Bought these for my mother who loves tending to her backyard fruit trees but struggles with hand fatigue. At just under 9 oz, they feel solid without being heavy. The ergonomic handles give impressive leverage, so she doesn’t have to squeeze with both hands on tougher cuts. She was able to trim back her peach tree dead branches with ease.

I was able to cut up to about 1″ thick branches with this with no problems.
I was weary that it would slip but it held onto the branch and sliced to with with minimal effort.
It came with an extra spring, I guess in case the first one wears out, so that’s nice.

Just make sure you know what anvil pruners are designed for: these are absolute beasts for dry, brittle, dead wood and clearing tough brush. For soft green annual stems, I still prefer bypass shears to prevent bruising the plant. But for seasonal yard clearing and heavy deadwood, this TONMA is easily the best pair I own.

This product works great on flowers as well on shrubs and small to medium sized tree branches!

Got these just in time for end-of-season yard work. Cleared out dead lilac suckers and thick woody stems around the fence line. The cut is clean and doesn’t twist in your hand when applying pressure. You can feel the cutting leverage doing the heavy lifting.
