    I was skeptical about spending this much on scissors, but after a month of use I completely understand the price. The difference in cutting resistance alone is remarkable.     As a male tailor, I often find standard scissors too small or cramped. These 12-inch shears have a generous handle that fits comfortably.     I have a pair of high-end German scissors that cost twice as much, but I find myself reaching for the TONMA more often. They are lighter than they look but still have that “heft” of quality.     Often, long scissors lose their cutting power at the very tip of the blade. Not these. I can do intricate notch cutting and precise corner clips with the very end of the 12-inch blade. The titanium-plated surface also makes them very easy to wipe clean after using iron-on interfacing or adhesives.

    I was skeptical about the “32 layers” claim, but while I haven’t tried 32 yet, these handled 12 layers of quilting cotton and batting with zero effort. No snagging at the tips, which is usually where cheaper scissors fail. They are a bit hefty due to the forged steel, but the balance is so good that my hand doesn’t tire during long cutting sessions.
